A Memorable Memorial Weekend

David and I spent the Memorial Weekend with our dear friends Melissa and Jdub Theilig down in Fredericksburg, Texas. It was such a nice getaway! We packed so much into the 3 day weekend! We still don't have a digital camera so all these pictures are with my iPhone...

Friday afternoon David and I got a late start out of Dallas and we were too hungry to wait and eat in Fredricksburg so we stopped at this authentic and very yummy BBQ place in Glen Rose, Texas called Hammond's BBQ. I snapped a few pictures bc I know someone with the last name Hammond...and had to document!

We both had to order sweet teas because they came in these adorable and HUGE mason jars...so good!

We saw the most beautiful sunset on our drive through the hill country...tried to capture it with my iPhone camera in a fast moving car...I think I did pretty good!

The next morning after breakfast we walked down main street and window shopped in all the adorable shops and boutiques. Melissa and I couldn't resist all the cuteness so we had to pop in a few of the stores...I found a couple small things for my new nephew Wesley! And I think Melissa bought a cook book. Such a neat main street.

Then after lunch at our hotel we got ready for some wine tastings at the local wineries. We went to Rancho Ponte and Becker Vineyards and enjoyed some amazing Texas wines. David and I have been drinking Becker for a long time so it was fun to visit the vineyard and try some new and exclusive wines.

We decided to go back to our hotel pool to cool off before heading to dinner in town. For some reason the pool provided several "floaties" and this was David's favorite.

We had to get some German food- since we were after all in a "German" town. So we went to Auslander. (I have to confess that I did not personally order German food as I am not a fan but everyone else did)

After dinner we went to Luckenbach, Texas to see Roger Creager in concert...this was a HOOT! Love small town Texas concerts...definitely some good people watching. But this was the perfect ending to a perfect day. I could literally see the stars in the sky while sitting in my lawn chair listing to live country music...not too shabby!

Me enjoying Lone Star Beer...only the best

Sunday we got up early and headed to Enchanted Rock for a nice little hike. It was so beautiful at the summit.

Views from "The Rock" in the best Sean Connery voice I can come up with

After cleaning up we went back to the vineyards to try 2 more- Torre di Pietra and Grape Creek. We decided to go back to the most scenic vineyard-Becker-for a picnic. I was a happy girl

For our second dinner we tried the Navajo Grill...SO good. More gourmet, Texas food. It was a great way to end our fun trip!

Of course the main reason we get a day off work is to honor and remember those who served or are continuing to serve our country. I love how this blog allowed readers to send in images of soldiers "coming home." Take a look...and grab some tissues.

I hope you all enjoyed a blessed holiday weekend and took some time to remember why we had a day off :)

PS- Melissa this is your cue to post all the pictures you got with your camera on your blog :)
