A Wonderful Weekend

I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful weekend. I sure did!

David and I had a lot of fun pretending like it was Christmas. We didn't have any cookies in the house but we did have a brownie and a glass of milk for Santa!

I think he appreciated the change up from the standard sugar cookie.

We had a great dinner at Patrizio's in Highland Park Village. Look at how beautiful these trees are! I think it's the most beautiful place in Dallas during Christmas!

{Picture courtesy of Jessica Schrader via facebook. Hers was much better than mine!}

Then we enjoyed a great church service on Sunday and I had a little Christmas party with my Bible study group! I am really enjoying getting to know these girls. They have already been a blessing to me and I'm excited to see how the Lord will work in our lives next year!

Things I'm Loving Thursday

It's that glorious time of the week again! Today will be short and sweet because I'm busy today :)

Today I'm loving:

1. that the presentation I've been working really hard on at work went off this morning without a hitch! I was really nervous driving to the meeting and I just felt the need to play this song in my car.

I immediately felt a calmness and a peace that can only come from the sovereign Lord. What a blessing and a gift. Thank you Christ Lord.

2. I'm loving that I have a homemade tomato basil soup cooking in my crock pot right now! All I have to do when I get home is get a bowl and smile.

3. I'm loving that David and I get to have our Christmas this weekend!! It's going to be so much fun. We are going to have dinner and look at Christmas lights in Highland Park. A Christmas tradition for us since we started dating {6.5 years}. Then we will get up on Saturday morning and pretend like it's actually Christmas morning. I'll cook brunch, we'll open our stockings, exchange gifts and just enjoy sweet time together.

There truly is so much to be thankful for. What are you loving today?

Every Season

Many Christians during the Christmas season talk about Jesus is the reason for the season. And He is. But I have been convicted lately that Jesus is the reason for EVERY season. This song brought tears to my eyes when I heard it play on a Christmas playlist I created several years ago. I had forgotten about this sweet song and how the words remind me Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior is EVERY Season.

Listen to Every Season by Nicole Nordeman and be blessed by who Christ is year round.

From Daniel 2:21-23

“Blessed be the name of God forever and ever,
to whom belong wisdom and might.
21 He changes times and seasons;
he removes kings and sets up kings;
he gives wisdom to the wise
and knowledge to those who have understanding;
22 he reveals deep and hidden things;
he knows what is in the darkness,
and the light dwells with him.
23 To you, O God of my fathers,
I give thanks and praise,
for you have given me wisdom and might,
and have now made known to me what we asked of you,
for you have made known to us the king's matter.”

Things I'm Loving Thursday

These weekly posts make me feel like the weeks go by so fast! It's such a wonderful feeling to see the work weeks coming and going so soon!!

Today I'm loving:

1. Late night discussions with my husband about life, Jesus, the Bible, what God is teaching us, goals we want to set for our marriage. I'm so blessed by our time together- going on 9 months married :)

2. I'm loving all the Christmas cards I've been getting in the mail! I wanted to do something different this year with displaying my cards so I used close pins and pinned them to some garland. I really like it!

3. Modern Family. It is soo funny!! I just laugh and laugh out loud when I watch this show!!

4. Celine Dion Christmas. I don't think it gets any better than these two songs...enjoy. It's ok to cry. I did twice today. What a divine voice!

5. Lastly, I'm loving that we have a weekend home! I'm loving that we are home for the next couple of weekends and I could not be more excited. I can't wait to sleep in on Saturday and cook brunch then go to church! It's going to be so wonderful.

Wishful Thinking Christmas List

I'm in the mood to play. Let me emphasize the word PLAY because I fully recognize the hefty price tag on these items! So I am not really asking for these on my Christmas list but someone asked me recently "If you didn't have a budget what would be on your list?"

So here it is. The Wishful Thinking Christmas List 2010. Ready.Set.Play.

1. Hunter Boots with the ivory cable-knit liner. I would especially love them in navy or hunter green...but can only find a picture with the black. But let's be honest- you can never go wrong with classic black! From Here.

2. How great would those look with this Burberry Quilted Jacket? From Here.

3. I love this Tory Burch clutch because it's two toned and would go with everything! I also like the smaller TB logo. It's so classy! From Here.

4. This has been on my list for a while now. I just can't justify buying another watch when I have a beautiful two tone one but I do love the idea of having an all gold Michael Kors watch. From Here.

5. Lastly, I'd love this iPad! We had so much fun playing on my mother in law's iPad over Thanksgiving and it has now officially become a big wish!!

What's on your playful wishful thinking list? Man I look so materialistic huh?! haha

Happy Things I'm Loving Thursday!

Happy Thursday everyone! I trust I am not alone in saying how happy I am that the weekend is one day closer! I hope each of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with loved ones. We had a great time in San Antonio with David's family and miss everyone already!

Today I'm loving:

1. That David's brother TJ/Tom and his long time girlfriend, Pleasant just got engaged!! In Paris, France!!! We are so excited for them and can't wait to celebrate with them in San Francisco for Christmas. Congrats you guys!

2. Since I'm on the topic of love and excitement, I'm loving that this weekend our dear friends Catherine and Alex are getting married!! I'm so excited the big day has come and that we get to be apart of it!

3. I'm loving this new game app for my iphone called ABCA. Download it. You will love it too. We discovered this game over Thanksgiving on my mother in law's ipad. Its a word game and you slide your finger over the tiles to make words. The larger the word- the more points. Then you also try and collect a certain number of gold tiles per level...anyways just play it. It's addicting!

4. I'm slowly getting our house decorated for Christmas and it is SO fun. We actually put up our tree before Thanksgiving so we could enjoy it longer. When you are traveling a lot it just makes more sense.

and I love this ornament that I picked up on our honeymoon in Antigua!

5. Lastly, I'm loving that today my office is having it's Christmas Party at Maggiano's for lunch and then closing the office early! What a wonderful gift!

Things I'm Loving Thursday

Happy Thursday everyone!!

Today I'm loving:

1. Thanksgiving. I have already had 2 Thanksgivings and am looking forward to the third one (on the actual day) next week!

2. As I mentioned in my last blog, the family poured into Fayetteville, Arkansas last weekend to honor and celebrate my brother as a Senior Razorback. At the game on Saturday my mom, dad, sister and I got to go on the field and Rhett ran out towards us, dad gave him this football and take pictures with him suited up :)

On Sunday we enjoyed a wonderful full day of family, food and fellowship :)
These are the only pics I have :( so hopefully my sister and mother will send me more!

3. I'm also loving Conan. I NEVER would stay up and watch late night talk shows. Even thought they come on at 10:00pm here in Dallas I am still usually not awake but ever since all the drama with Conan and Jay Leno, I have wanted to watch and support Conan. I am LOVING his shows. Last night's show in particular was especially funny. He has a co-worker that he claims is perfect for Jersey Shore...and was he right! But David and I got a special kick out of Conan trying to wear the "graphic" tee.

hysterical.

4. Leftovers. That's right. I am loving leftovers. David and I have had leftovers for the past several days and it's been awesome. I really can't think of the last time we paid for dinner! So great saving money :) but I'm ready for a date night tonight.

5. I just ordered our Christmas cards and got our personalized and coordinating Christmas stockings in the mail!! Oh the joys of a Christmas and our first Christmas as husband and wife :) I cannot wait to decorate our house. David fears I am going to go overboard and it's going to end up like the Griswald's house. One can only hope right?!?

Things I'm Loving Thursday

So I took a little hiatus from blogging on Thursdays mostly because it's been so dang busy around here- especially on Thursdays!

Today I'm thankful for many things and especially loving:

1. Our trip to Disney World has officially been booked! Melissa, Jdub, David and I will be going together in May 2011 courtesey of Melissa's wonderful parents- Pam and Bill Skaar! Thank you for sharing this blessing with us!! I cannot wait to be a kid again.

PLUS

=FUN

2. Today I'm also loving the women in my Bible study group. I am still getting to know each of them more but it has been such a treat for me to be encouraged and blessed by a group of 10 wonderful women around my age. Some are single, some are married, some are pregnant or about to have a baby and it is awesome to see how God is working in each of our lives in each of our different places.

Yesterday we started a 5 week study on 1 Samuel. It has been a little while since I've read 1 Samuel and I am already learning so much from the lives of Hannah and Samuel. Last night we mostly focused on 1 Samuel, Chapter 1. This chapter describes the depression and despair Hannah is in because she is unable to have a child. She literally cannot eat she is so upset and hurt by this. She goes and prays to the Lord.

"She was deeply distressed and prayed to the Lord and wept bitterly. And she vowed a vow and said, “O Lord of hosts, if you will indeed look on the affliction of your servant and remember me and not forget your servant, but will give to your servant a son, then I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life, and no razor shall touch his head.” 1 Samuel 1:10-11

The priest Eli overheard her prayer and said in verse 17:

"Then Eli said,“Go in peace, and the God of Israel grant your petition that you have made to him.” 18 And she said, “Let your servant find favor in your eyes.” Then the woman went her way and ate, and her face was no longer sad."

What I was so moved by was that Hannah found peace and hope from the Lord alone and not from having her prayer answered. Later she does give birth to a son but before even knowing she would she "ate and her face was no longer sad." She found peace and comfort in the Lord alone.

Today I am loving that the Lord used this study to show me to find peace in Him and take comfort in knowing I'm a part of His purpose regardless of all of my prayers being answered exactly the way I want them to be :)

3. One of my prayers lately has been to have quality time with my immediate family This can be very difficult when we all live in a different STATE. That's right not city- State. This weekend we will all be together for the first time since March! Ahh bliss. We are celebrating my brother, Rhett in Arkansas. This Saturday is what they call the Senior game where they hold a special presentation for all the senior football players. My mom, dad, sister and I will get to go on the field with him!! It's going to be so great. I'm so loving this answered prayer.

This is 2.5 years old...but you get the idea :)
