Plus One

Our family grew "plus one" last night! We are so excited to have this sweet puppy, Layla!

Layla is 4 months old and is a full bred German Shepherd puppy. My brother's girlfriend's family (say that three times fast) had this puppy and offered her to us! We are so happy it worked out and are enjoying her so much already.

We named her Layla after the famous Eric Clapton song. We saw Eric Clapton in concert at one of our first dates!

The name fits her perfectly. It means "dark beauty" in Arabic...even though she's German, she's our dark beauty!!

She is so social and minds pretty good so far. She is a super sweetie! I'm sure this blog will have stories and pictures of Layla in the future ;)

Diney World 2011

We just got back from a wonderful trip to Disney World. Well, we got back on Wednesday night but I've been catching up on sleep, laundry, errands etc. so I'm just getting around to posting.

We had an AWESOME trip! We went to every park: Epcot, Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, back to Epcot and finished up at Animal Kingdom.

We saw some great shows and fireworks.

We were even able to relax by the pool and get massages while the boys played golf! All in all, it was a GREAT trip! Thanks again Pam and Bill Skaar for giving us such a fun opportunity to go!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Wow! What a weekend. So much happened in our world. Between devastating tornadoes in the south, a huge Royal Wedding and the #1 terrorist finally getting caught and killed after 10+ years of searching...there's a lot to take in. Emotionally, I'm so sad for the people affected by the tornadoes and pray they find refuge in the only One who can give it.

“Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me, for in you my soul takes refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed.” Psalm 57:1

I am filled with gratitude. I am so blessed to live in this great country and I'm so thankful for the US armed forces and all they do to keep us safe!!

I am also filled with joy that I can have a spontaneous weekend with my husband. We literally did not have any set plans...but it turned out to be such a wonderful weekend!

Friday, we decided to eat our new favorite pizza in Dallas at Il Cane Rosso. Try the Cassie. Seriously, the best pizza. The hot soppressatta makes it.

Then on a whim, we decided to go to Cork for some wine tastings. This was so super fun. You put money on a card and swipe it underneath the wine you want to taste. Some tastings were $1.50- $12.00. We stuck with the $2.00- $4.00 tastings :).

Saturday after brunch we decided to go to Ft. Worth for the day. Turned out, Tornado Alley was playing at the IMAX theatre in the Nature & Science museum.

We enjoyed the exhibits on the North Texas dinosaurs, The Barnett Shale and The Cattle Raisers exhibit.

As mentioned above, Tornado Alley was showing in the IMAX theatre. We really enjoyed this plus it was narrated by Bill Paxton. Greatness.

The highlight of the day was getting to go to Joe T. Garcia's for dinner. Oh how I love this place. It's been a long time. I forgot how good it is.

So fun! Hope you and your's had a great one too!
