Way To Go Rangers!!

Ya ya I'm sure you know already but in case you don't the Texas Rangers won their first time EVER post season series last night!!!

I am so excited for the team and for Dallas. David said last night, "Dallas needs a break in post season sports." The Cowboys, The Mavericks, The Stars and The Rangers have all performed poorly in the past during playoffs.

Well thank you Rangers for finally bringing home a W!!

Speaking of home. The Rangers won the first two games of the series in Tampa, FL but couldn't seem to win the two games at home.

We were lucky and got to go see one of the home games this past Sunday. (Thank you Cullins Family!)

We had awesome seats on the 3rd base line.

Things I'm Loving Thursday

Happy Thursday everyone! What a beautiful one it is too! Dallas has just been amazing this week! I'm trying to soak up every minute of this fall weather.

Things I'm Loving Today:

1. It's Hitchcoctober at The Angelika! I have not participated in the past but I think we will this year. They play classic Hitchcock movies out on the patio- FOR FREE! You can bring your own chair or blanket and get "spooked" every Thursday in October. Movie starts at 8:00pm

Tonight they are playing The Birds :) SO SCARY!!

2. Arkansas plays Texas A&M this weekend here in Dallas.

This is GREAT news because we don't have to travel anywhere this weekend!!

3. Because of this we finally get to cook for my parents at our house! I am so excited...We will be making chili and Frito pie Friday night and Mexican brunch pie with pumpkin scones for Saturday's brunch. Yummy! We may even get lucky and have my dad's carmel apples!! :)

4. Last but not least our nephew Cade turned one yesterday! He melts my heart! Happy Birthday buddy...we love you!!

V-I-C-T-O-R-Y

We have the wonderful feeling of victory in our household. Yes, Baylor beat Big 12 Kansas 55-7 last Saturday, but this isn't the victory I am going to talk about today. The feeling of victory that we have is over our security system.

So when we moved into our rental house back in March, the previous renters had installed a fancy security system. Although this is a really nice feature, because we did not pay for all the bells and whistles- the system would repeatedly BEEP to tell us we needed to add all these bells and whistles.

When I say BEEP. I mean it would BEEP very loudly and over and over until one of us got up and walked over to the wall unit and pressed CANCEL.

So for some unknown reason it would beep at exactly 10:51pm every night. Can I tell you how annoying this is?!? Our bed time is 10:00pm so just about the time we are getting into a deep sleep...BEEP....BEEP...BEEP.

Well last night David figured out a way to stop this madness and afterwards he came out to the back porch where I was reading {staying out of the way} to tell me the good news!

Note: The head light was completely necessary.

So to thank him for this victory, I made him a batch of his favorite cookies.

These snickerdoodle cookies are AWESOME! I got the recipe HERE. Make them. You will love them too.

Things I'm Loving Thursday

Sorry I missed last week- it was a busy one for me!

To make up for it...I have a lot of things I'm loving today.

1. The State Fair of Texas has officially opened (last Friday) and I'm dreaming about all the good food I'm going to eat when I go.

My embarrassing fair food list:
Fletcher's Corn Dog, cinnamon roll inside the food court with "the works", pizza inside the food court, lemonade from the same pizza stand, a bite or two from David's turkey leg, beer from Bailey's in the food court (I've been told this is the cheapest beer in the whole fair) and possibly split a fried cheesecake with David.

Because I have sooo many unhealthy foods on this list- I will either have to go several times so I don't die of a hear attack or go all day long so I can spread it all out and work it off by walking :)

2. Speaking of food. I love that it's fall and I can eat oatmeal again. I can't eat it when it's 110 degrees outside. But this week has been amazing so I'm back on my healthy oatmeal breakfasts!

I love the Quaker High Fiber Cinnamon Swirl...so yummy! Only 3 weight watcher points and a great way to start off your morning.

3. Tomorrow is October 1st. I absolutely LOVE October. I love the Texas weather in October. It's usually not too cold and not too warm. It means Baylor Homecoming, State Fair (see number 1), pumpkin patches, mums, football every weekend, Halloween parties, chili and well pumpkin everything!!

4. Citizen Cope is playing at the House of Blues this weekend!! I love this band and trying to figure out a way to go to one of the shows.

5. And last but not least, my brother Rhett is coming to visit us in Dallas tonight! He will mostly be spending time with friends but it's always fun to have family in town!

What are you loving today?

Tom Petty and ZZ Top

We had a BLAST at the Tom Petty/ZZ Top concert last night. The weather was A-MAZING!!

Perfect for sitting in the lawn, people watching, and jamming to some awesome music! I just love concerts. They are so much fun and always create lasting memories :)

Have you been to any good concerts lately?

Camping Fun

The view from our campsite

David and I went to Cooper Lake this past weekend for a fun camping trip! We really enjoyed getting away and just being still. It was so refreshing to not have an agenda full of items to check off...just quality time with each other.

Another view from our campsite.

We went on a couple walks and the first was early in the morning on Saturday so we were the first to greet the spider webs. I SO wish we could have captured the beauty better but just trust me- they were some of the most beautiful spider webs with a little morning dew ;)

I think if you click this picture you can see it larger and see the spider web in the corner...

We rented a canoe and saw some crazy wildlife (deer, hogs and turkey vultures). We played several card games and listened to some football on the radio. We ate good food. We camped.

On a funny weird note- while walking we found the amphitheater all decorated for what we are thinking was a wedding...David put on a show for me.

Things I'm Loving Thursday

I can't believe it's already Thursday again! I love how fast this week has gone by!

I hope each of you are having a great Thursday!

Here's three things that I'm loving today:

1. My husband. Yes I love him everyday! But I especially am loving that he had dinner completely cooked by the time I got home from work yesterday! How great is that?!?

I will be cooking tonight but will not be able to get it all done before he gets home...

2. Miranda Lambert. I love singing along to her songs and today I caught "The House That Built Me" twice in the car already today...on two different country radio stations! I just love her voice and for some reason I think I can sing with her really well...haha

3. The act of planning. The women in my family (my mother, sister and myself) are planners. We are constantly planning.

Whether it's just plans for the day or upcoming weekend or 10 years down the road I can bet you we have ideal plans in our head. Obviously we have learned and will continue to learn it cannot be about our plans but the Lord's plan but today I am talking about the joy of planning a fun weekend getaway with David. We are going camping very soon at Cooper Lake and I cannot wait!

Cooper Lake State Park

Right now plans include but are not limited to:

cooking hot dogs on the fire
going for a morning hike
renting canoes
playing card games
throwing the Frisbee
and listening to football on the radio

What are you loving today?
