Happy Birthday Lindsey

Friday was my dear friend, Lindsey's birthday. Although I didn't get to see her or talk to her!!! I wanted her/and everyone else to know how special she is.

Lindsey and I met the summer before my Sophomore year at Baylor. She was "talking" to one of David's best friends, Kent Cullins.

Since then, our friendship has grown and matured in so many ways.

Things I love about Lindsey:

She knows what she believes and strives to not only support and research her beliefs but strives to challenge and understand what and why she believes it. This is so encouraging to me, because for so long I did not challenge myself.

She is brilliant. She is determined. She is strong.

She is a great listener.

She so elequently uses "fabulous" in any sentence she can.

She is a beautiful dancer. We took a hip hop class together at Baylor...and it was TOO fun dancing with her. She is well... "fabulous"

She speaks truth, even if it is not what you want to hear.

She has a forgiving heart. When people-friends and family- have hurt her so badly, she knows it is Christ's command to love and forgive. She does so time and time again.

She loves Kent. May 30,2009 I will get to see this love made public and official between two very special friends.

Happy Birthday Linds!

In Someone Else's Skin

I have always enjoyed Halloween. It has changed over the years, naturally. I remember dressing up as a Baby and Pippy Longstocking...well I have matured a bit. In college I was

an 80's prom queen,

A flight attendant

and this year I was Audrey Hepburn.

It was also Baylor Homecoming...so I got to visit with some old friends. It was a great weekend.

I finally got to go to NYC

I have not visited Shawna in New York since Kate was born. Something was very wrong with that picture..so I have been searching for flights everyday. I finally found one that was affordable, on a weekend that was good for us both, and was aloud a couple days off work. It was so much fun...I hated to leave.

My Trip..

Day 1:
-We went to Kate's gym class. She goes once a week and learns how to use her muscles in a fun way. Kate was the queen bee in this class...and the teacher's pet!

-We had lunch at my favorite, Alice's Tea Room. They have the best scones ever! Shawna and I split a pumpkin and a mixed berry..yummy. I also love their tea. They have 1,000 different teas. I love it

-After nap time, we took a walk through the park, and played on the swings.

-We went to Shawna and David's friends place for a "Financial Crisis" party. I don't have any pictures, but it was SO much fun. The beginning of the party was your typical party, mingling and snacking on the finger food...but it turned into a sing along. We sang to James Taylor, Elton John, Billy Joel, The Beatles...etc.

Day 2:
-Got up early to beat the rain..and headed to Warwick, NY to go Apple Picking. This was so much fun. Although it was a yucky day, it was still beautiful and memories were definitely made.

-Shawna and I made an apple pie with our freshly picked apples

-Shawna made a delicious lasagna...and we stayed in, out of the rain.

Day 3:
- I went to Shawna and David's community group, then to church. JR Vassar delivered a great sermon on observing the Sabbath. It is not only a commandment but a symbol of God's grace that we are able to take a day/time of rest.

-David watched Kate so Shawna and I could go have an adventure in So Ho/The Village. We walked around So Ho and stumbled upon the adorable restaurant, The Antique Garage. It had such good food, and was a perfect girl lunch. We shopped a little and just enjoyed time together.

-David grilled hamburgers for dinner...so yummy

Day 4:
-Shawna, Kate, and I went to the Central Park Zoo when it opened and enjoyed a morning with the zoo animals. My favorite was by far the Polar Bear. He just swam back and forth in his tank. It was hysterical and mesmerizing.

-We walked through the famous Poet's Walk in the park

-We enjoyed a beautiful lunch at the Boat House.

The trip was truly wonderful, but I was just content to be with Shawna and Kate..well and David too :) I wish we lived closer, but these little trips will have to do. Thank you Shawna and David for a wonderful time.

Enjoy some pictures from my trip:

Segway Fun

Maggie and I got the opportunity to work for DHome on Thursday night. There is a new event DHome sponsors called Slocum street festival. All the designer, imported decorating stores along Slocum street open their doors had have wine/food for those who come in their stores. There were also trolleys taking people up and down the street where a musician or music group would await them at the trolley stop.

Well Maggie and I were asked to ride segways up and down the street and pass out flyer's for a DHome tour of homes on October 18th.

It was hilarious and soo fun. We had many funny comments from the observers. We had many photos taken of us...and we had made many memories.

We decided since we had the segways we would take advantage of it and ride them around Dallas. Oh yes we rode the segways all up and down Victory Park, The W hotel, the shops at Victory, by the House of Blues, Dick's last resort, and we made circles around our apartment fountain. It was awesome we felt like kids again. They are so much fun, I highly recommend you try them out sometime!

Arkansas Football

I have had the privilege of attending (3) three of Rhett's Arkansas football games this year. I have gotten to go to the opening game against West Illinois, the Alabama game, and the University of Texas game. I cannot describe how fun it is to see your "little" brother suited up in an SEC football uniform!

The Razorbacks have been having a tough season thus far, which means Rhett has had LOTs of playing time and he has done AMAZING!

They are playing the Florida Gators today so let's cheer for those HOGS!! And Rhett of course!

Here are some pictures from the past couple of games. Enjoy!
