Just a little update on the wedding planning...this is more for myself. It makes me feel good to see what I have gotten done...so humor me :)
1. Met with the wedding band leader to discuss songs, lights, and timeline
2. Met with event coordinator for the reception
3. Ordered our favors! (can't wait)
4. Tasted all the yummy food for the reception
5. Took my dress to get fitted
6. Met with my hair/make up artist
7. Scheduled a consultation with the pianist/organist at the ceremony location
8. Ordered a photo book for the wedding showers
9. Picked up our invitations
10. And as posted below started our pre-marital counseling
I have had butterflies as I have realized everything is just around the corner!

Marriage Counselling
David and I had our first REAL session with our Sunday school teacher who will be officiating our wedding. We have met 2 other times but they were more get to know you even better, outline the process of counselling, discuss the ceremony etc. Last night we got into some real meat of discussions.
David and I took a relationship test called Prepare and Enrich. There are many different tests out there that are probably similar but this is the one PCPC uses and ironically my Dad uses when he counsels engaged couples.
It asks you questions about each of our upbringings and backgrounds, there is a section on conflict resolutions, communication, leisure activities, friends and family, religion, children/parenting, and finances.
David and I take the test at different times and are not supposed to discuss our answers until we go over the results with our pastor...
The purpose of this test is not to tell couples if they are supposed to get married or not or to tell you if you've picked "the one" but it helps to see which areas need to be discussed prior to getting married...
Things like- disciplining your children. I can honestly say that through the 5.5 years of dating David, we have not discussed how we want to discipline our children. Does this mean we can't get married- of course not but it may just be good to discuss how we want to raise any future children including discipline so it begins those kinds of discussions and we aren't discussing these things when I am pregnant...
It was very insightful to see how David and I answered the same questions. Since I feel these things are private for David and I- I am not going to go into great detail. But I do encourage those of you who are engaged or will be someday to take the time to have Christian pre-marital counseling.
Many times we get so caught up in planning the wedding that we don't make time for the couseling and I know it's hard to make the time but I really feel it should take some priority. The wedding will be over in 1 day, your marriage is for the rest of your life so put the time into seeking God's plan for your marriageand your new life with your husband or wife.
I will tell you something we got a kick out of. The question read:
Your future spouse is stubborn.
David and I both said yes! and we laughed out loud when we answered that question!!

Our New Home!
Today David and I signed a lease on this adorable house! We are so excited that this will be our first home together! David will move in mid-February so we can start early and get the house all set up. I of course won't move in until after the wedding but it feels so great to have this done!
I don't have great pictures of the house yet- I will surely be posting pictures after we move in and I decorate but here are some I got from the real estate listing...the previous tenant had an interesting choice in art work...
The front- I love the little swing under the big tree in the front yard...
The entry way- those double french doors lead into the nice sized study
The living room, entry way, kitchen, and dining room are all open and connected- again not my style of decorating but you can see it's a large space and wood floors throughout the house.
The cozy kitchen- I say cozy because it's not huge but it is perfect for the two of us :)
The dining room- it is larger than it looks right now. And again weird art work...

This week- yes it's only Tuesday- I have:
1. Bought the undergarments for my dress
2. Dropped off the paper at the print shop for the invitations
3. Worked on the envelopes for the invitations
4. Picked up my veil
5. Got my shoes
6. Tried on wedding bands
7. Emailed the "special songs" to our band- ya know the first dance, father daughter dance, mother son dance...it's a secret :)
8. Worked on the order of the ceremony
9. Picked out ceremony music
10. AND filled out an application on a house rental :) ok I know that's not for the wedding but it's for our life after!!!

Merry Christmas, My Cousin's Wedding, and a Happy New Year
Wow! I can't believe the holidays have come and gone! It was a whirl wind for me this year! My time with my family was short but oh so sweet. I hope you all enjoyed special time with your loved ones throughout this holiday season.
There is a lot going on right now in my family but we managed to laugh and savor the memories we are creating together.
My 2.5 year old niece, Kate fully grasps who Santa is this year and it made Christmas morning so fun. She asked Santa for a popsicle, a lollypop, and stickers! how cute is that! I told my sister and brother in law they need to soak it in because that wish list will never be so cheap!

She is also getting into dress up, so Mia and Papaw (my mom and dad) got her some fun dress up items that we all had fun with :)
Then we had a wedding- my cousin Taylor and Stacia got married December 27th in Golden, CO.
The only picture I have of the happy couple- check out those mountains in the background!

And we brought in the New Year amongst great friends!
